Welcome to the presentation archives! Here you can see all the major milestones and check-ins I presented over the course of the last year while developing my senior capstone project. Presentations are ordered in reverse chronological order, with the most recent at the top and gradually going back in time.

Quite literally the final presentation. Click to see how it all turned out, and what’s coming next.
Week 11 Check in, Spring 2020

This presentation came at a strange time. Right as campus went remote in the midst of the Coronavirus crisis we were tasked with reporting our progress, and any pivoting that might need to occur. Fairly certain I wouldn’t be able to prototype for the foreseeable future, I was already taking steps to pivot towards Print & Play at home activities designed for social isolation.
However, this pivot provided an important shift in perspective that has pushed me towards developing my manifesto as a foundational document to ensure a stronger future for the development of my toy. Strange presentation, but definitely very valuable results.

Documenting my first steps into making the toy a reality by breaking down how both the PCB base and the modular LED blocks work in more detail.
Final Presentation, Fall 2019

Fresh off my visit to both the Chicago Toy & Game Fair and IAAPA, I felt like I had the know-how I needed to start inventing a toy. Finally my project had a real shape to it, and a plan of action going forward. Lots of research, ideation, and some sleek renders in this one.
Week 11 Check In Activity Sheet, Fall 2019
This presentation came in the form of a kid’s menu activity sheet, where my professors were then given crayons and instructed to fill out the sheet to learn more about the status of my project.
I then presented an answer key to make sure all information got across. Click here to check your answers (PDF will open in new tab).
Midterm Presentation, Fall 2019

This Midterm was a little bit of a mess. With a productive start to my fall semester doing anything but work on my capstone project, I was throwing lots of things around and seeing what would stick here. Looking back now, it’s funny how close I got to completing everything on that list after all. I’m building a marble toy that’s educational…and I even put on an experimental show for good measure.
Halloween Costume, Fall 2019
For Halloween everyone in my capstone class was assigned to dress up like their capstone project. With only a vague idea of what I was doing, I decided to go for spectacle instead of specificity. This piece was called Icarus, and it was an interactive performance art ball game. I lowered the protective visor over my face and told my classmates and educators to aim ball pit balls for the golden pouch behind my head.
This form of self-punishment is a pretty authentic representation of how I felt about my project at the time.
